"Festival of the Arts " was a weeklong offering of cultural events that celebrate the opening of the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts on the Brenau University campus. The organizing committee for the festival invites the public to attend these functions and celebrate the beautiful, new arts facility on Brenau's campus. Many of the events are open to the public at no charge. Some events do require tickets and/or reservations.

Festival of the Arts 2002:  A retrospective

"Festival of the Arts " was a weeklong offering of cultural events that celebrated the opening of the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts on the Brenau University campus. The organizing committee for the festival invited the public to attend these functions and celebrate the beautiful, new arts facility on Brenau's campus. Many of the events were open to the public at no charge.

April 16, Marina Lomazov, pianist, and the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra, 8 p.m., Pearce Auditorium. Program includes Prokofiev's First Piano Concerto. Event co-sponsored by Gainesville Pro Musica and Gainesville Symphony Orchestra. Tickets required. For ticket information call Gainesville Symphony Orchestra at (770) 532-5727.

April 16- May 3 - Brenau Collaborative, students of Brenau's Art and Design Department display their works in Simmons Visual Arts Center and the Presidents Gallery. Free and open to the public.

April 16, Combined reception for Brenau Collaborative guests and Symphony patrons. 6:30 p.m., Simmons Visual Arts Center and Presidents Gallery. Free and open to the public.

April 17, 10 a.m., Marina Lomazov Children's Concert, Pearce Auditorium. Features Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." Appropriate for all ages. Sponsored by Gainesville Pro Musica. Tickets $5. Call (770) 535-7342 for reservations. Web site: www.gainesvillepromusica.com

April 17, An Evening of Sacred Music with The Gainesville Chorale, Brenau Professor Pat Callaway, and the Saint Bede's Choir from Atlanta. 8 p.m. in Pearce Auditorium. Free and open to the public. General seating.

April 18, Business After Hours, sponsored by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, 5:30 p.m. at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts. Tours of the new building Open to all.

April 18, Brenau Chamber Choir, 7:30 p.m. in Pearce Auditorium. The Brenau Chamber Choir sings an eclectic mixture of 'a capella' choral music. Free and open to the public. Donations accepted. General seating.

April 19, Children's Concert by the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra: 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon in Pearce Auditorium. For ticket information call Gainesville Symphony Orchestra at (770) 532-5727.

April 19, Emile Pandolfi in Concert, 8 p.m. Pearce Auditorium. World famous humorist and pianist. Adults $25, Seniors $20, Students $15. Tickets available at Lancaster Music and Publix on Thompson Bridge Road or by calling Brenau University at (770) 534-6160. April 20, Donor dinner and concert by San Francisco opera star and Brenau alumna, Kristin Clayton. Hosch Theatre. By invitation only.

April 21, Creating in the Moment: A showcase of talent by students in music, dance, theatre, art and design. 3 p.m. at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts. College students, Academy students and community young people perform. Reception immediately following the performance. Free and open to the public.
